Deck railing systems – one, buy an exterior latex paint of choice. Be sure to buy enough paint at least two programs to ensure that all surfaces of the wood is covered. Consider that some of the paint will be absorbed into the wood, resulting in more applications. Two, clean deck surface, including the individual deck rails, with a hydroelectric disc if available. Otherwise, scrubbing the exposed surfaces of the deck railing with a scrub brush or other cloth removes dirt and grime before painting. Let railing to dry completely.
Apply the paint to the top railing first. Work from the top surface of the handrail to the sides, and then finally the underside. Be sure to cover all exposed areas, especially where the top horizontal meetings with the individual vertical posts. Use either a brush or a paint roller. Four, apply the paint to the individual deck railing systems posts, beginning in one corner and work around the railing system. Work from the top of the posts to the bottom.
Be sure to cover all areas of wood. Including where the wood railings have been linked to other parts of the tree. For example on the floor or other extra horizontal railing at the bottom of the posts.
Apply a second coat of paint in the same manner to the entire deck railing systems when the initial application has dried completely. This will ensure that all the wood surface area has been covered and will be protected against water damage.
